In a nutshell, here’s the overview:

Naked Bicycles, The ROAD TO NAHBS,  is dedicated to our journey to NAHBS 2012. This year we are embarking on an unusual project.  We are RIDING our show bikes from N. California to NAHBS in Sacramento.  We really want to make a meal out of the prep and journey of getting to NAHBS.

In the days to come, we’ll be documenting about the bike designs and build, choice of trip equipment and clothing, the trip itself, the people we meet, the places we stay and finishing off on the last day of NAHBS.  We hope to show the amount of work and passion that goes into handbuilt bicycles, not simply the product.

The truth is, our bikes are built for very real and grand adventures.  We name our bikes “adventure” bikes because that is exactly how our customers use them.

And so begins our own adventure.  Hope you’ll tag along. The Road to NAHBS.      – Sam and Andrea

Way to go Sophie, we are super proud of you! Now go ride your bike.

]]> News Addition: The Christmas Unicycle http://timetogetnaked.com/blog/the-christmas-unicycle/2012/01/05 http://timetogetnaked.com/blog/the-christmas-unicycle/2012/01/05 Thu, 05 Jan 2012 00:22:36 +0000 Off I went, to the post office, expecting to find a few bills, maybe a couple christmas cards.  What I found instead was a package from E-bikes/Grin Technologies in Vancouver, BC.  We receive packages through the mail fairly regularly.  What was different this time was the picture on the outside of the box distinctly looked like a ….. unicycle.   Nah.  Couldn’t be.

Oh hell yes it was!! Sent from Justin and AnSo.  Just a bit a background on these two crazy kids.   They both run/own ebikes and Grin Technologies. Justin and AnSo visited us this summer on their E-bikes (electric assist bikes), riding from Vancouver to Quadra Island.  Justin rode his electric bike across Canada a few years ago successfully completing the trip from British Columbia to New Brunswick. AnSo is a unicycle fiend. Sam recently saw her while he was mountain biking on the Sunshine Coast of BC.  She rode her unicycle all the way there! From Vancouver to the Sunshine Coast!! and it was November!!!

Needless to say, we were stoked! A unicycle. A Nimbus unicycle.  Now, I’ve never ridden a unicycle successfully before.  By successfully I mean, stayed on for more than a milli-second.  Sam’s attempts were more daring.

We finally have a unicycle. Woo! Thankyou to Justin and AnSo!

]]> News Addition: NEW WEBSITE!! http://timetogetnaked.com/blog/new-website/2011/12/30 http://timetogetnaked.com/blog/new-website/2011/12/30 Fri, 30 Dec 2011 23:45:36 +0000 Phew! Here it is, our new website.  There are a couple more pages that need to be added, but after the near death experience of our old website, we thought, it’s best to get this one up and out there.  Many many thanks to Todd Heckeler of www.consumedesign.com .  He is a website guru.   If ever you need a web guy, he’s the man.

Seeing how we lost alot of our blog info from the old site, I thought the easiest way for people to catch up with where we are at is to check out the facebook page:  http://www.facebook.com/pages/Naked-Bicycles/369553210165

Lots of things to look at!

All our best for the New Year coming,

The Naked Bicycles Team – Andrea, Sam and Aran
