North American Handmade Bicycle Show 2008 What a ride!

This year the show was held in the bicycle hoppin' city of Portland, Oregon. Amazing bicycle craftspeople from around the USA and a few from international locations were showcasing their eye candy. Check out the NAHBS website for more details.

Sam decided to put all his favorite ideas into one bike - a bit of a risk that really paid off. Sam's crazy fixie "Baba Ganoush" caught lots of attention with it's top tube lock hole, E-centric dropouts, wooden rims and spoke shave bars with wood grips. The bike combined modern ideas with late 1800's style. This was an homage to Portland, a bicycle crazy town.

Show turnout was above fire safety capacity on one day and in the frey were a couple celebrities checking out the amazing craftsmanship.

By the last night, award night, we were wound up, exhausted, and had varying degrees of laringitis. Still, it was time to get naked. Sam's bike won 3 prestigious awards: President Walker's Choice, People's Choice and Best in Show.

What a night!

Looking for a Naked Baba Ganoush for your own? You can have one, but not this one. It's been sold to a Texan with a passion for cycling and a knack for winning Tours, especially in France - Lance Armstrong.

We'd like to thank all the people that helped out and the companies that supplied us with swag. This year was a whirlwind. What a ride! Thankyou to:

Gordon Clayton and Steve Nash for helping at the booth and taking great photos

Maile Neel for the photos of Lance Armstrong
